I thought it would be a good time to take stock of where I am in my various reading challenges.
The 100+ Reading Challenge
Goal: 135 books
Read: 48
This doesn’t look good, but I’m coming up on the time of year when I have the most reading time – summer break from homeschooling. I think it is still possible that I can complete this goal.
The Read-Your-Own Books Challenge
Goal: 70 of my own books
Read: 11
I need to stop accepting ARCs and review copies. I also need to stop clicking over to the library’s web site every time I see a rave review on a book blog!
The Support Your Local Library Challenge
Goal: 25 library books
Read: 20
This one will be completed soon.
The Audiobook Challenge
Goal: 12 audiobooks
Completed: 6
This one will be easy to complete before the end of the year.
The Art History Reading Challenge
Goal: 6 books
Completed: 1; one in process
This one is still possible.
Essay Reading Challenge
Goal: 30 essays
Completed: 31 – finished on April 20th.
Outlander Challenge
Goal: 6 books
Completed: 3; one in process
I’m listening to these in audiobook form. I’m trying to spread them out, so I won’t have a long time to wait for the seventh one to come out.
Graphic Novels Challenge
Goal: 6 books
Completed: 4 from my list; 3 others
I’ll be finished with this one in the next week or two.
TBR Challenge
Goal: 12 books
Completed: 1
Hmmm… not looking good.
Classics Challenge
Goal: 6 books
Completed: 0; 1 in progress
Another one that may not get finished.
So, 7 out of 10 challenges still look possible. I guess it could be worse.
Here are my other book-related posts this week:
~ Favorite memoirs, part one
~ Review of Justice Hall by Laurie R. King
~ Are you a Stephanie Plum fan? If so, Ranger or Joe Morelli?
I’ve also started a new weekly feature, a first lines quiz, on Monday afternoons. Stop by tomorrow if you’d like to play along.

You are doing great challenge wise. It’s all in having fun while playing along, right? I don’t think I’ve made much progress since I last did my tally. I’ll probably wait another two months before taking a peek at them again. I’m too scared to look right now. LOL

You’ve got some pretty serious challenges here, so I think 7 out of 10 is pretty darned good. I’m doing pretty well on mine, but I intentionally restrained myself on how many I signed up for. I hate not finishing something. I laughed at your comment about review copies and ordering library books every time you read a good review. That gets me in so much trouble!
I’m behind in books when it comes to the RYOB challenge also. I rarely accept ARCs and review copies but every time I read a review on a good book, I go to my library’s catalog to place the book on hold. I quit some challenges and ended up signing up for more!
You’re doing great. I think you’ll finish your challenges. Happy reading.
I thought of doing the same kind of Salon post this week!
I think you are doing GREAT! What activities are you doing when you listen to audiobooks? Whatever they are – you must be doing a LOT because those Outlander books are huge
(I only listen to audio in the car and currently I have listened to the first 3 books of the Harry Potter series)
I’m intimidated just by looking at all the challenges you’re participating in.

LF – I know, I would have waited longer, too, but I couldn’t think of anything else for my Sunday Salon post!
Sandy – I know, I went a little challenge crazy. And I’m thinking about hosting another one for the second half of the year!
Vasilly – thanks. I’m the same way – the library’s web site makes it too easy to request books when I read about them online!
Molly – I listen to my audiobooks on my MP3 player while doing any sort of housework – laundry, dishes, cooking, vacuuming, etc. Also sometimes in the car if I don’t have the kids with me. And if I have an attack of insomnia, I’ll listen at night, cause it doesn’t disturb my husband. Harry Potter is awesome on audio!
Kathy – I am, too – I think I have a problem.
I will never complain again about my piddling little amount of challenges
Good luck to you sweetie!

Jennygirl – I may not finish them all, but I’ll sure have fun trying!
I really ought to see where I stand with mine. Looks like you’re doing pretty good though!

Ladytink – I’m hoping the end of the summer will show a lot more progress.
