Movie Review – Bride Wars

bridewars I took the opportunity of having a house completely to myself to watch a movie that Kevin would never want to watch. Just the title, Bride Wars, would probably cause him to break out into hives. :) I’m not a big fan of Kate Hudson, but I adore Anne Hathaway, and so decided to give this one a try.

Hudson and Hathaway play Liv and Emma, best friends since they were girls. The main thing they have in common, other than their love for each other, is a burning desire to get married and to have their weddings at the Plaza. When they get engaged within a week of each other, they visit the ultimate wedding planner (Candice Bergen) and book two Saturdays in June. They are eagerly planning their weddings when one phone call changes everything. It seems there was a mix-up and their weddings are both planned for June 6th. They both hope the other will be willing to change their date and venue, but when neither one caves, the war begins.

This movie had some fun moments, but overall, it was just okay. The writing wasn’t terrific, with some of the lines seeming just plain cheesy, though Hudson and Hathaway did their best with the material. If you’re looking for a light, fun movie, then give it a try. Just don’t expect too much.

The twins watched this and liked it. I listened to it while I blogged. It didn’t sound like Kate’s best.

I passed on this one. Fluff doesn’t usually do much for me, even though I do like Anne Hathaway. My kids are less discriminating. My daughter would probably love it!

I haven’t seen this one yet, but I have heard from others that it wasn’t the greatest. Thanks for the review!

Sheri – no, it wasn’t. It seems like she just plays the same character over and over again in her movies.

Sandy – yes, my daughter enjoyed it.

    Jo-Jo – you’re welcome. :)

  5. I admit this particular movie is not high on my list of movies to watch. It’s too bad it didn’t live up to its potential. If I do see it, I’ll keep my expectations realistic. :-)

LF – yes, it’s good if you’re in the mood for a light piece of fluff, but not much else.
