Eighteen times Clarence sat in his cramped cell that was barely bigger than a closet, and listened to the preacher coming down the hall, and watched the condemned man go by. Sometimes the man would hesitate in front of Clarence’s cell.

whereareyou

I’m in Trenton, New Jersey, looking for a divorced mother and her daughter who have skipped out on a child custody bond. I’m also trying not to be sad that I haven’t heard from Joe Morelli in a while, and I’m trying to figure out what to do about a deal I cut a few weeks back with Ranger – a deal he means to collect on. (Hard Eight)

I’m also a journalist in Scottsboro, Alabama, working on a story about nine black boys who have been sentenced to death for raping two white girls. I’m not convinced that the crime even happened. (Scottsboro)

And I’m in Stow, Massachusetts, waiting for my estranged husband and my lover to retrieve my fifteen-year-old daughter, Rebecca. She ran off after her boyfriend, who is ten years older than her, after I sent him away because of the age difference. (Songs of the Humpback Whale, Jodi Picoult – audiobook)

You just can’t tear yourself away from Stephanie once you get started, huh? I love that series…it is one of the few that I belly laugh on a regular basis. I see you haven’t started the next Outlander yet…neither have I. I feel like I need to get some other quickies in before I do, because they are such a LONG HAUL! I think the deadline for the challenge is September isn’t it? I need to get my butt in gear.

I love all of your teasers, Carrie! I finished the first book in the Stephanie Plum series last week and I really enjoyed it :)

  3. Two very different books! I really want to read Scottsboro. It sounds like such a good book. And I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum novels. Grandma Mazur is such a hoot! Enjoy!

Stephanie Plum is always a zany good time. And Scottsboro sounds wonderful!

Scottsboro is about the famous trial by that name? I’ll have to pick that up.

For some reason, I never read past book 2 or 3 with the Plum series.

And I’m the only person on earth who hasn’t yet read Picoult.

Sandy – I am STILL waiting on Drums of Autumn from the library so I can get the disc I’m missing. Sigh. It’s taking forever!

Ladybug – they are such fun reads!

LF – Grandma Mazur is my favorite minor character in the Plum novels – she cracks me up!

Stacy – Scottsboro is good so far, but I’m not very far into it yet.

Beth – yes, it is about the trial. And if you decide to give Picoult a try, pick up Nineteen Minutes. Skip Songs of the Humpback Whale – it was good, but not great.
