Title: My Massive Feelings
Author: Laurie Weeks
Source: Best American Nonrequired Reading 2008 – read it online
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
This short story is written in the form of diary entries addressed to Sylvia Plath. It’s darkly humorous, as Ms. Weeks captures the angst that is adolescent girlhood. The diary writer wants to be taken seriously as an “artist” and thinks that writing disturbing poems and attempting suicide may be her path to legitimacy. This story made me laugh; it also made me glad that I am no longer a teenager.

This sounds like an interesting one. I’m glad I’m not a teen anymore either.
