Favorite YA fiction, part two

Here is the continuation of my list of the best YA fiction.

graceling
Graceling by Kristin Cashore – From my review: “In her debut novel, Ms. Cashore has created a fully formed world with authentic characters that breathe on the page.”

hungergames
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – From my review: “I cared so much about the characters that I couldn’t stop turning the pages this afternoon, letting laundry and housework and blogging all go by the wayside until I had finished.”

forestofhandsandteeth
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan – From my review: “If only they had had books like this when I was a teenager – I probably wouldn’t have spent so much time reading trashy bodice rippers!”

ifistay
If I Stay by Gayle Forman – From my review: “This YA novel is a celebration of life and love and family.”
devil
The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen – From my review: “The Devil’s Arithmetic is an extremely well-written and moving novel of the holocaust.”

I have If I Stay in my TBR pile. Can’t wait to read it. I keep hearing such good things about Graceling. I will have to go check it out.

I’ve read “The Forest of Hands and Teeth” and “The Hunger Games” (which reminds me that they’re in my review pile!), and I loved them both! Great list; “If I stay” is also on my TBR list. I’m hoping to get it soon.

I finally read Hunger Games last week and even got my review up. It is so worth every good word and review it has gotten. I just got Forest of Hands and Teeth on audio and can’t wait to get to it.

I’ve heard of the other three but haven’t tracked them down. I’ll be putting them on my wish list now!

Beth – I read your review – it was terrific! I just didn’t have time to comment – my Google Reader spiked 1000+ posts in the past two days while I’ve been frolicking in the sun with my sister and her kids.

Trashy bodice rippers???? I love it! I definitely need to come back here when I am in need of things to read with my kids. We, of course, loved Hunger Games. It will probably end up being on my best of lists for 2009. I have heard alot about If I Stay as well. I love these posts of yours!

I have every one of those of my TBR list except Hunger Games and Yolen. I already read HG and haven’t heard of this one by Yolen. I will be checking it out. You have a great list.

I always love your lists! I haven’t read any of these, no, not even Hunger Games. I’d better get cracking! Graceling looks particularly good to me.

I’ve read all but Graceling (though I have it in my TBR pile) and Devil’s Arithmetic. Seems we have similar taste in books.

I actually got into the YA genre as a result of reading The Hunger Games. Of course this is shocking right? I mean it’s just the worst book to represent the genre ever, right? *sarcasm*

I LOVED If I Stay and The Hunger Games! I recently finished If I Stay as a part of the first Norwegian book blog tour ever :)

Both Graceling and The Forest of Hands and Teeth are on my wish list, the last book on your list is new to me but I definitely have to check it out!

Great list, I love your favourite lists, CarrieK!
