Bookish links for Saturday, August 29, 2009

I don’t have a lot of links to share this week, because I have had very little time for blog reading. It’s Fair Weekend here in Colville, and my daughter is participating in the Performing Arts program. She sang two songs on Thursday, won blue ribbons for both, and moved up to the second round today. She won two blues again today – and so will sing again for the Grand Championship tomorrow! I am so proud of her. But three days in a row of spending several hours at the fair has meant no time for blog-reading, and my Google Reader is about to explode. I’m sure I’ll have a lot more links to share next week.

~ Read The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening by L.J. Smith free at HarperTeen.

Discussion starters:

~ J. Kaye talks about Reading Challenges and Memes: Proper Blogging Etiquette.

Reading challenges:

~ Join the Twelve Step Poetry Program at Book Gazing. Yes, I’m considering it. 🙂

Reviews that have me adding to my to-read list:

~ The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf, reviewed at Redlady’s Reading Room and Peeking Between the Pages.

~ Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin, reviewed at A Novel Menagerie.

~ The City and the City by China Mieville, reviewed at Ms. Bookish. This showed up in my post on the current issue of Bookmarks, and after reading Belle’s review, I know I must read this book!

~ Win Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, The Hollow by Jessica Verday, and Rage: A Love Story by Julie Anne Peters at Book Blather.

Life does get in the way sometimes, doesn’t it? I’m on a BBAW panel, which has been keeping me busy, as well as a trip to Chicago. Hopefully I will be back in business next week sometime!
