The Sunday Salon – September 13, 2009 (The “BBAW Preview and Giveaway” edition)

The Sunday Salon.com

celebrate booksAnyone else getting excited about Book Blogger Appreciation Week?! I am. I have some posts pre-scheduled, so thought I’d give you a head’s up on what’s coming this week. I also thought I’d kick BBAW off a bit early with a huge giveaway.

Monday’s post – a list of some of my favorite blogs that are a little off the radar.

Tuesday’s post – my interview with Trin of Bloody Bad.

Wednesday’s post – the reading meme from the BBAW site.

Thursday’s post – my review of The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry for a TLC blog tour.

Friday’s post – The Literary Road Trip post moves to Friday for just this week, because I want my blog tour post to be up for a full day. This wee’s post features YA author Jennifer Bradbury.

Saturday’s post – I will do my weekly links post, plus draw winners for my BBAW giveaway.

Speaking of which…

I often do giveaways for the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival, and I usually give away ARCs or books that didn’t really grab me enough to want to hold onto them. But this is Book Blogger Appreciation Week, right? So, this time, I’m giving away some books that I absolutely loved, and some others that I liked a lot. They’re not new copies, though – these are all books I’ve read, either ARCs or paperback copies. Click on the title to be taken to my review, where possible, or to the book’s Amazon link.

promisedworld
The Promised World by Lisa Tucker (ARC) – I can’t link to my review of this one, because it’s scheduled for a blog tour on the 24th, but I can tell you this is a terrific read; I gave it 4 stars.

everyoneisbeautiful
Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Center – 5 stars.

wetnurse
The Wet Nurse’s Tale by Erica Eisdorfer – 4 stars.

schoolofessential
The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister – I can’t link to my review, because it’s on the site I moved my blog from, and I don’t link to them. It’s a 5-star read, though!

fieldwork2
Fieldwork by Mischa Berlinski – Another one I can’t link to – 5 star read.

sacredhearts
Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant – Only a 3-star read for me, but I’m in the minority – it’s gotten a lot of 4- and 5-star reviews.

senseofpaper
The Sense of Paper by Taylor Holden – a 4-star read.

scottsboro
Scottsboro by Ellen Feldman – 4 star read.

Since I know that there will be a ton of giveaways this week, I won’t make this too complicated by throwing in extra entries and such. Here are the details:

~ I’m broke, so this giveaway is open to readers in the US and Canada only.

~ Leave a comment that includes your e-mail address. Also tell me your top five choices of the titles above. I’ll try to match people with their choices as best as I can.

~ All entries must be received by 11:59 pm PST Friday, September 18, 2009. I will draw the eight winners on Saturday, September 19th, using Random.org.
