In honor of Book Blogger Appreciation Week, I am pleased to introduce you to Trin of Bloody Bad. Since Amy paired us up for the BBAW interview, I have enjoyed getting to know Trin through her blog and via e-mail. I had a lot of fun interviewing – and being interviewed by – her.
First of all, can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?
Trin: My name is Katrina. I am a part time college student and I work full time overnights at a residential treatment facility for children at risk. I have a husband of 4 years a dog and a cat. We live in New England, which I absolutely love.
When and why did you start blogging?
Trin: I started blogging on New Years eve of this year. I have NEVER made a resolution that has lasted more than two weeks. This year I resolved to blog for one year and I started my blog as a personal blog. It just so happens that I was reading New Moon at the time and I HAD to share my views on it. I started searching the internet and I found the 100+ Challenge over at J.Kaye’s Book Blog. I then added to my resolution, read 100 books and blog about it for one year. I have now read 83 books and I am still blogging.
How did you come up with the name for your blog?
Trin: I began with the name Trin’s Book Nook. I hated the name, it was too unoriginal. The name Bloody Bad came from two sources. I love England and all things British, the food, the music, the sound of the accent. When reading Confessions of a Shopaholic I was thinking of how “Bloody Bad” the writing on my blog was. The name was born. I never intended for it to be about reading or reviewing bad books. I always thought of it as containing bad writing and boring ideas. We are our worst critics.
What do you think the best thing about blogging is?
Trin: I love the look of my blog. Of course, I like writing my reviews and such but I love designing it. I especially like this months header. I started making monthly headers because I like to change them so often. I like this one so much it might stay, unless I can make another great one.
Do you have any blogging pet peeves?
Trin: I have a few blogging pet peeves. First, I hate writing an explanation of the books I read. Sometimes I use the description but sometimes it is not how I want to portray things. The next thing that irks me is when bloggers become catty and rude in comments or emails to others. I hate to see people project such negativity. We all have different opinions and experiences that make us unique and I chose to celebrate those differences.
How do you find time to blog?
Trin: Shhh, I do it mostly while I am at work. Working the overnight shift I watch the kids sleep so in between paperwork, laundry and bed checks I have time to do homework, read and blog.
Besides blogging, do you have any other online addictions – like Twitter or Facebook or any other social media sites?
Trin: Addictions, not really but you can find me at Twitter, Goodreads, Library Thing and the Book Bloggers Ning.
Can you tell us what some of your favorite posts are?
Trin: I love doing the weekly memes, especially the Monday Mailbox, What Are You Reading, and Teaser Tuesday. But, some of my favorite posts other than that are my review of Becoming Jane, my interview with author Amanda Grange, and my review of The Time Traveler’s Wife.
What genres do you enjoy reading? Are there any genres you don’t read?
Trin: I love literary fiction, historical fiction, YA paranormal and memoirs. I choose not to read Non-Fiction and erotica (sex scenes make me queasy.)
Who are your favorite authors?
Trin: I love Frances Hodgson Burnett, Neil Gaiman, Elin Hilderbrand and so many more.
What are the best books you’ve read this year so far?
Trin: The Time Traveler’s Wife, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Horse Boy, A Match for Mary Bennet, Frenchtown Summer and The Help.
If you could recommend one book that everyone should read, what would it be?
Trin: The Horse Boy by Rupert Issacson.
Thanks, Trin! Have a wonderful Book Bloggers Appreciation Week!
