Bookish links for Saturday, September 19, 2009

What a wonderful BBAW it has been! I hope you all had as much fun as I did. I only wish I had had even more time to read and comment on blogs – but life still happens, even when you think it should stop and give you a break! I did add several new blogs to my Google Reader, and have met some wonderful new bloggers.
Right now (I’m writing this Friday evening), I am drowning in kids. Jonathan turned 10 today, so there are three extra boys over for a sleepover – plus our three boys, too. And so that Natalie doesn’t feel overwhelmed by testosterone, she also has a friend sleeping over. So in one room you can hear the sound of Godzilla Unleashed on the Playstation 2, and from Nan’s room comes the smell of fingernail polish and lots of giggling.
Thank goodness for kids old enough to entertain themselves – I can get some blogging done – and maybe reading, if I can concentrate through all the noise.
I don’t have as many links to share with you this week, but I did manage to save a few. I was so busy enjoying the posts this week that I forgot about saving them! So for more great reading, be sure to check out all the Mr. Linky’s at the Book Blogger Appreciation Week site.
Reviews that have me adding to my to-read list:
~ French Milk by Lucy Knisley, reviewed at Beth Fish Reads and Lakeside Musing.
~ The Knife of of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, reviewed at Stuff as Dreams Are Made On.
~ 31 Hours by Masha Hamilton, reviewed at I’m Booking It. (I loved this author’s The Camel Bookmobile.)
Book to movie news:
~ Universal has acquired the rights to Melissa Marr’s YA fantasy Wicked Lovely. The author has more details. This series is my sister Debra’s absolute favorite – she brought me her copies of all three books when she came to visit this summer, but I haven’t found time amid all the ARCs and review copies. I will be getting to it soon, though.
Giveaways:
~ Win Evermore by Alyson Noel at The Infinite Shelf.
~ Win the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libby Bray at Pop Culture Junkie.
~ Win a booklover’s gift set at Jenn’s Bookshelves.
~ Win a $32 Amazon gift card at Ticket to Anywhere.

Enjoy the sounds of all the kids…they grow up and go to college too soon. I’m glad I’ve still got two left at home! Thanks for the link – French Milk is a lot of un.
JoAnn´s last blog ..BBAW: Setting Goals
JoAnn – I know, I’m enjoying them while they’re here.
Thanks for the links Carrie. I already ran and entered the Gemma Doyle trilogy which I listened to on audio but always wnated to read it.
lilly´s last blog ..God Is an Englishman by R. F. Delderfield
Lilly – it looks like a great trilogy!
…I mean FUN!
JoAnn´s last blog ..BBAW: Setting Goals
This was a fun post to read. Hearing about a house loaded with children took me back to some great memories. At the time of all those slumber parties I probably was not thinking great memories. I’m sure I was as sleep deprived as you are this morning.
Margot´s last blog ..Something New
Margot – yes, sleep-deprived is right! But Jonathan had a blast – and so did all the friends -so it was worth it.
Thanks for the link. I hope you love French Milk. I’m sooooo excited about the Wicked Lovely movie. I think it could be fabulous.
Beth F´s last blog ..BBAW: What I Want in an eReader
Beth – I really need to read those books soon!
Whew! I hope you survived the night! I’m glad our sleepover days are over.
Kathy´s last blog ..BBAW Wrap-up
Kathy – I survived! They had fun, so it was good, but I’ll be glad when their parents pick them all up!
Happy birthday to your son, Carrie! Thanks for the news about Wicked Lovely possibly being made into a movie. I guess you and I had better find our copies in our TBR piles and read them before the movie comes out. I’m sure we have plenty of time.

Literary Feline´s last blog ..BBAW: Book Giveaway #5
Wendy – it’s a good thing it takes a long time to get a movie made!
