Eleven on Top by Janet Evanovich
I was standing in front of him so I got the pole-vaulting demonstration. Lula got the rear view, and whether it was intentional or just a jerk-action reflex was hard to say, but Lula shot Martin in the a** with the taser.

The Magicians by Lev Grossman
Quentin had committed to memory dozens of pages of closely printed charts and diagrams spelling out the Major Circumstances and how they affected any given enchantment. And then, once you had all that down, there were hundreds of Corollaries and Exceptions to memorize too.

I’ve been fired from my job at the dry cleaners because Lula came in and shot up the place. When we tried to sneak in at night to retrieve Lula’s sweater, Mama Macaroni ended up getting blown up in my car. Then I went to work at Cluck In a Bucket, which also ended up burning down. I’m now jobless and have chicken grease in my hair. (Eleven on Top)
I’m also at Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. I have no idea why I’m here, but apparently I’ve just passed the entrance exam. (The Magicians)
And I’m Cross Creek, North Carolina, attending my husband’s aunt’s wedding to Duncan Innes. (The Fiery Cross, Diana Gabaldon – on audio)

Stephanie does have a way with starting fires and getting things blown up. I wouldn’t let her get within a hundred yards of my house! I love those books! I just got my audios for Breath of Snow and Ashes from the library. Of course, it is going to take me a week to load all of those discs. I won’t be starting it any time soon I think.
