Fire by Kristin Cashore
I’m doing this for the Dells, she told herself over and over when her own capacity for bullying made her numb with shame and panic. I’m doing this to protect the Dells from those who would destroy it.

The Financial Lives of the Poets by Jess Walter
(II) Complacency led me to believe that Lisa and I had such a strong relationship that it didn’t matter who she’d dated before; her ex-boyfriends could’ve been George Clooney, Kobe Bryant and Abraham Lincoln and I wouldn’t have been smart enough to be intimidated. (III) I made the classic arrogant white-collar mistake of thinking that because I used my brain to support my family (back when I supported my family) I was superior to some dude who stacks lumber for a living.

I am visiting my friend Queen Roen, but am frightened by her son, Prince Brigan. He seems to hate me, and I don’t know why. (Fire)
I am also in Trenton, New Jersey, housing a lame horse in Ranger’s parking garage, and hoping to trade Grandma Mazur for a bag of money. (Plum Lucky, Janet Evanovich – on audio)

I don’t know how you can read more than one book at a time. Well, I shouldn’t say that b/c I do listen to something in the car and read something and I can read a non-fiction and fiction but once I start something I usually like to read straight through.
But my main reason for being here is because I was volunteering at my NRR station last week and they always give away left over/throw out books and I picked up some ARCS etc and The Financial Lives was one of them! Never heard of it and I didn’t look it up to see when it was released.

Amy – I’m not sure of the exact release date – some time this month. I’ve only read the first chapter; it’s entertaining so far. It’s not long, so I’ll finish it soon, but my review won’t go up until the 29th for a book tour.
I gotta read that poet book!

Haha! I remember trading Grandma for money! Someone is going to get the short end of the deal on that one! So what happened to The Fiery Cross? Did you finish it?

Sandy – LOL – I took a “short” break from Fiery Cross to listen to Tomorrow When the War Began, and I just haven’t gotten back to it. I’m stuck at disc 26. I will get back to it eventually, but it’s been a hard audiobook to work out to, because it doesn’t seem like very much happens!
I like your W-a-y on Plum Lucky. Not sure how anyone’s going to feel about getting Grandma Mazur in exchange for cash! Hope you’re having fun.

Margot – Actually, Stephanie’s trying to get Grandma back. And knowing Grandma, the guy who has her is going to be all too willing to give her up!
I liked the fire teaser! I really want to read this series.

The Financial Lives of Poets is a title that would probably have me yawning, but the teaser makes it sound interesting.

Wendy – I know, from the title, you would think it was some obscure non-fiction title – but it’s really very funny!
