The thought of this future kept Roger somewhat at ease, despite the cold, the other survivors, and the maddening ache within his skull. Drumming his fingers against his thigh, he continued to look out over the sea, continued to wonder where the ships were.

I’m a Japanese soldier swimming in the middle of the ocean, trying to reach an island. The US hospital ship I was on was just blown up and sank. (Beside a Burning Sea)
I’m also in Hell – a place in the bush in Australia. My friends and I are trying to figure out how to rescue Kevin and Corrie. Corrie was shot by enemy soldiers and is being held in the hospital. Kevin was beaten and is now at the fairgrounds with the rest of our families who are being held prisoner. (The Dead of Night)
And I’m in a strange world with a dome for a sky, plastic flowers, and super-smart children, one of whom is my little sister. (The Sky Inside by Clare B. Dunkle, on audio)
