They are home but they are not alone. Prepare for the ultimate extraterrestrial invasion full of hilarious hijinks and outrageous mind control gags when Aliens In The Attic descends onto Blu-ray Disc and DVD November 3 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. It’s summer vacation, but the Pearson family kids are stuck at a boring lake house with their nerdy parents. That is until feisty, little, green aliens crash-land on the roof, with plans to conquer the house AND Earth! Using only their wits, courage and video game-playing skills, the youngsters must band together to defeat the aliens and save the world — but the toughest part might be keeping the whole thing a secret from their parents! Featuring a hilarious cast including comedy veterans Doris Roberts, Andy Richter, Kevin Nealon, Tim Meadows, and Gillian Vigman, as well as rising young stars Ashley Tisdale, Robert Hoffman, Carter Jenkins, and Austin Robert Butler, Aliens In The Attic is the most fun on the planet!
We missed seeing Aliens in the Attic in the theater, but all four of my kids thought the trailer looked appealing. You have Ashley Tisdale and a couple of cute teen male actors to appeal to my 12-year-old daughter, and you have aliens to appeal to my boys. The kids were very excited when our review copy arrived in the mail, and we watched it the same night. I was pleasantly surprised – not only did the kids love it, but I enjoyed it, too.
The kids are definitely the center of the film. When the aliens attack, the brothers and sisters and cousins have to get past their usual bickering and work together to defend their planet. The aliens are able to use their mind control devices on grown-ups, but they don’t work on the kids. They do, though, allow the kids the chance to get some pretty funny revenge on their older sister’s boyfriend, a college senior who lied about being in high school.
Doris Roberts is a wonderful addition to any movie, and the scene where she goes all ninja is worth watching the movie for. My only beef is that, like in many kids’ (and especially Disney) movies and television shows, the parents are portrayed as morons. I know that this is in order for the kids to be the heroes of the movie, but I would love to see a kids’ or family movie that actually had decent parents in it.
That said, we all enjoyed this movie. It had us all laughing, and the kids have already re-watched it once.
For the genre family films, I give this movie 4 out of 5 bags of popcorn.

I have to be honest, when I saw the trailer, I just shook my head. I wasn’t sure I could sit through it. Even my kids were doubtful, having just suffered through Aliens versus Monsters! I’ll have to let them know you liked it!
Sandy´s last blog ..Monday Movie Meme – Sleeping with the fishes
Sandy – I may be in the minority on this one – I haven’t read any other reviews. It was silly, but we still liked it.
Hey Carrie…thanks for the review of this movie. I was a little skeptical putting in on our netflix list…but I think I will now. It is appropriate for ages 4-8. I was a little concerned about possible language, sexual content, etc.
Dani – there is a tiny bit of suggestive humor about the sister’s boyfriend, but it’s not overt. I had no problem letting my 8-year-old watch it, and I’m pretty sure any of that was so implied that it would go over a 4-year-old’s head.
