In the coolest Ice Age yet, Manny and the herd discover a lost world of ferociously funny dinosaurs, including a cranky T-Rex who’s got a score to settle with Sid! Meanwhile, Scrat goes nuts over the beautiful Scratte, but is she trying to win his heart – or steal his acorn?
My boys have been waiting and waiting for this disc to arrive – they are huge Ice Age fans. The movie couldn’t have arrived at a better time – it came this afternoon and kept the boys enthralled for a little over an hour so I could get my NaNoWriMo writing done for the day.
My sister told me that she and her boys had liked it better than the first two movies, and that I should watch it, too – so, we watched it again after dinner. I agree – the jokes and characters are funnier, and I love the idea of Manny as an over-protective father. He created an icy playground for the baby that he is expecting with Ellie – and tried to child-proof it by putting snowballs on all the pointy sticks. The boys, as usual, love the scenes with Scrat, and the addition of Scratte made them even funnier.
This is a must-see family movie, especially for those of you who have already loved the first two installments. For the genre animated comedy, I give it 5 out of 5 bags of popcorn.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is available now on DVD.

I didn’t give it a very positive review but my mom brought it down to my brother’s over the weekend and my 3-y.o. twin nephews and my 6 y.o. niece LOVED it she said.

Amy – I think I’m much less picky when it comes to kids’ movies. I like laughing with my kids, and usually if they enjoy it, I enjoy it. There are exceptions, however. (Shark Boy and Lava Girl comes to mind. )
We never saw this movie, as it got horrible reviews. You just never know, though, do you, when it comes to kids movies. I can almost fall asleep in one, but they kids are rolling around laughing. We will probably end up renting this for them on Netflix!

Sandy – I don’t pay much attention to reviews anymore – I’m much less critical than the critics, especially when it comes to family movies.
