A happy couple with a seemingly perfect life has their daughter abducted. Over the course of a day, the kidnapper dismantles the family’s lives with brutal efficiency.
I don’t know why Shattered didn’t get a theatrical release, but it is a fantastic, edge-of-your-seat thriller with a wonderful twist at the end. Not only is the plot terrific, but you have Gerard Butler, Pierce Brosnan, and Maria Bello.
Butler and Bello are Neil and Abby Randall, a married couple with a young daughter. One morning, they leave their little girl with a babysitter for the day. Neill is heading off for a business weekend, and Abby is going to work and then have a night out with her friends. All of their plans are changed, however, when a man, Brosnan, enters their car and says that his partner has their daughter and they must follow his instructions to the letter if they ever want to see her alive again.
What starts is a hellish day and night of being led down one rabbit-trail after another – made even more terrifying by the fact that the man doesn’t seem to be motivated by money and appears to have nothing to lose.
This movie will keep you engrossed and it kept me guessing until almost the end – I did figure out the twist a bit before it was revealed, but it was still a great film experience.

Well, the cast is certainly top-notch. I wonder why it was ignored? I’ve never seen anything about it in my life. I’ll have to keep it in mind for a good Netflix viewing!

Sandy – I wonder if it was made around the same time as Liam Neeson’s Taken and they thought maybe the two premises were too similar? I don’t know, but it was very good.
Interesting. I’ve never even heard of this movie. I’m going to tell my husband about it.

Shattered sounds good! I can’t believe I’ve never even heard of it. I love Pierce Brosnan and like the idea of him in the villain role!

I just added it to my Netflix queue based on your review. Well, that and the fact that Gerard Butler is in it.

This does sound exciting! I love a good thriller. I watched Taken this past weekend, another kidnap movie.
