City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
You must imagine this staircase the way it was once, with the gas lamps burning all up and down the steps, like fireflies in the dark, and the balconies full of people. They were filled with people now, row on row of vampires with their dead-white faces, their red stretched mouths, staring bemusedly downward.

I am trying to understand why my mother has been kidnapped by demons and why I am able to see demons and Shadowhunters. (City of Bones)
And I’m trying to live my life by the rules of Radical Honesty: no lying, no censoring what I say, no filter between brain and mouth. (The Guinea Pig Diaries)
I’m also in the back country of North Carolina, and my daughter has just invented matches. (Breath of Snow and Ashes, Diana Gabaldon – on audio)

Ahhhh…you’ve started the next one! I haven’t done this yet. I have it loaded on my iPod, but keep telling myself “just a few more other audios” before I start it. I’m thinking maybe after the new year, once I’m back on my schedule and have lots of time to devote to the cause. That Guinea Pig book sounds hilarious. I may need to read that one!

Sandy – I’m alternating one disc of Breath of Snow… with one disc of something else – it seems to work for me – it ends up taking longer, but I enjoy it more.

Oh! I hope you enjoy City of Bones! I read that a second time a short while ago when Cassandra Clare was at the local book store for an author signing. I can’t get enough of those books
In fact, I’m already excited about her next books (she read an excerpt of the next one).

Carrie, I definitely know what you’re talking about
Putting the book down to go to bed, to prepare food or … ? Not really an option.

My cubicle mate at the office has a copy of City of Bones sitting on her desk and I’m always tempted to pick it up and take a closer look. I’ll be curious to read your thoughts on it when you finish.
