The Sunday Salon – January 3, 2010 (the “December reading wrap-up” edition)

The Sunday Salon.com

December was a fun reading month, with lots of time off of homeschooling. Here are the books I finished in December – links take you to my review:

When She Flew by Jennie Shortridge

On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson

The Intellectual Devotional: American History Edition by David S. Kidder and Noah D. Oppenheim

Bog Child by Siobhan Dowd (audio)

Wait Until Twilight by Sang Pak

The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life As an Experiment by A.J. Jacobs

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton

The Dead and the Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer

Darkness Be My Friend by John Marsden

Where Water Comes Together With Other Water: Poems by Raymond Carver

Z for Zachariah by Robert C. O’Brien

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (audio)

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Right now, I am almost finished with two books: Things That Make Us (Sic) by Martha Brockenbrough and Now and Then by Jacqueline Sheehan. Both good, but have been too distracted to just sit and read – plus I spent so much time offline this past week, I’ve been trying to catch up on my Google Reader and get some Twitter time in before it’s back to normal routines tomorrow.

What are you reading on this first Sunday of the year?

  1. It does sound like you had a good reading month, Carrie. I am spending a part of today trying to catch up on my Google Reader–I was all caught up last night and suddenly it’s overflowing again. It’s never ending. LOL At least I have fit in some quality time with my book too. There’s hope I’ll finish it yet.

That is an insanely great month Carrie! I was SO distracted this month. It took me nearly two weeks to read Fingersmith (even though it was very long) and just finished it tonight. I’m on to The Art of Racing in the Rain…

  3. Wow, you had a great reading month! I wish I had been as successful. I had a great big pile of books I wanted to read, but didn’t get to a few of them.

Amanda – I think one of the reasons I read so much is that they were YA titles – the kind of books that grab you right away and then you don’t want to put them down!

  4. I really enjoyed When she flew!
