This weekend is the 2nd Annual Bloggiesta, the brainchild of the wonderful Natasha at Maw Books Blog. For those of you not familiar with Bloggiesta, here are the details:
Some of you may be asking what is Bloggiesta? In short, it’s a blogging marathon. A opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing. Break out the nachos, enchiladas, drinks, mariachi music and whack a pinata or two!
Bloggiesta starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday. I will be doing all my bloggiesta tasks on Saturday and Sunday, though, since we have school tomorrow and then tomorrow evening are heading to some friends’ for dinner and board games.
I actually got a head start on my blog-improving tasks. First of all, I added Google Friend Connect. If you haven’t already, I’d love it if you clicked on the “Join this site” button in the top of my left-hand sidebar. The other thing I did was cleaned up my blogroll a bit – getting rid of links to defunct blogs. I still have a ton of stuff to do, though:
~ Add blogs from my Google Reader to my blogroll. – finished
~ Rewrite some reviews of books read in 2008 and early 2009. The reviews are posted at that other (evil) place from which I moved my blog. I don’t want to lose the reviews, but technically, they own the reviews, even though I was paid either only $1 or a few cents for each post.
~ Get some e-mails sent out asking for author interviews for Literary Road Trip posts.
Those three tasks will probably take up all the time I have to devote to blogging this weekend. Are you taking part in Bloggiesta? If so, what’s on your to-do list?

LOL.. it’d been so long since I added a new blog to my reader, I couldn’t figure out how the other day! With sponsoring a book challenge, I wanted to add those who were joining who weren’t already in my reader. It took about 10 minutes to finally find the “add a subscription” button. LOL… I’m a dork.
How do you add the google friends thing? Do you have to be on blogspot?
My main things I want to accomplish with Bloggiesta is closing out 2009, and updating everything to the new year. I also need to sort out my widgets. I’ll probably steal stuff from everyone like last year, too

Kool-aid Mom – Go to Google Friends Connect – (google it
) and then sign up and they’ll give you a widget to put on your blog. I’m not on blogspot; I run self-hosted WordPress.
Updating your blog roll is a labor of love because it takes a while. Good luck with your goals.

I need to update my blogroll too. Whats funny is I see other people blog rolls and I will check out one of their favs and discover the person hasnt updated their blog for months. I always wondered why people hadnt cleaned up their blog rolls. Now – I have that same thing going on. I really need to do the same. The blogs I read and loved 6 months ago when I was a beginner are not the same ones I frequent now. That is probably a really good thing to do on my weekend to do list.

the1stdaughter – I kept my list short and fairly manageable so I actually have a chance of completing it!
Good job getting an early start! I’m cleaning up my blogroll right now and adding some of my favorites that were missing like this one

Good luck with your list! I also need to work on my blog roll. Right now, I’m trying to write up some posts with the challenges that I have joined. Hope I can remember them all. I’ve been procrastinating.
I’ve never heard of the Evil place before, but thanks for mentioning it. Now I know what not to do. That would make me really mad. Too bad you have to rewrite those posts. Hope it goes well.

Sharla – thanks. I’m not going to spend too much time – just tweaking a few words here and there. Looks like they’re going to go out of business soon anyway.
