I am absolutely loving ROOB! I seriously think I could use a month like this once a quarter – it’s reminding me how much I love reading on a whim – plowing through an entire series if that’s what I feel like, picking up whichever book is calling to me from the shelves.
So far, I’ve finished four books this month that count for ROOB. (We’re not counting books read aloud to our kids, or books started before the first of April.)
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld – my own book (-5)
Burning for Revenge by John Marsden – my own book (-5)
Undercover by Beth Kephart – my own book (-5)
The Night is for Hunting by John Marsden – my own book (-5)
So far, my score (averaged by the number of books) is -5. Which is good! It won’t stay that way, though, because I started a review book today. Not because I felt like I should, though – I picked it up because I wanted to read it! How novel is that? The book I started is Love in a Time of Homeschooling by Laura Brodie. I’m only a chapter in, but it’s good so far.
If I find time to read today, then, it will be from the Brodie book and The Other Side of Dawn, which is the last book in John Marsden’s Tommorrow, When the War Began series.
What are you reading on this second Sunday in April?

Wow, you’re making ROOB sound awfully enticing! I’m reading U if for Undertow – it’s my own book, but I’m reading it for the Detectives Around the World event.

Kathy – I enjoyed U is for Undertow a lot – love the Kinsey Milhone mysteries.
I am glad you are enjoying your reading, Carrie! It’s nice to have a little extra incentive to read a book you’ve been neglecting for a long time on that TBR stack, I’m sure. I’m still reading the same book I was at the beginning of the month. It’s a thick one and I haven’t had a whole lot of time to devote to reading. Still, I hope to finish it this week. Hopefully.
I hope you have a great week, Carrie!

Wendy – I’ve noticed you haven’t been posting much – you must be really busy! Hope you get some free time for reading soon.
ROOB is the best idea ever! Yes, we should do this every quarter! Maybe I’ll do a ROOB update this week. I’m reading so much. You’re doing great. My score so far is -3.3. I’m reading more library books than TBR books. Hoping to change that this week. Today I plan on finishing The Housekeeper and the Professor. Happy reading!

Vasilly – I really want to read Housekeeper and Professor – I look forward to reading your review!
Congratulations you’re kicking #roob booty!
i think you and I are pretty even at this point. I’ve read mostly books at (-5 points) but have read one review book for (-3 points). In the end, #roob will be doing me good because I’m certainly reading more TBR books than I would have had I not been playing.
Keep up the great work!

Michelle – it’s like ROOB gave me the ability to read more for myself without the guilt. Need that every once in a while!
It’s great that ROOB has helped free you up for some guilt-free reading! I love just reading whatever I want and do so most of the time, but I have several ARC’s right now that I need to get to which is annoying since all I want to do is read the books I got around Christmas time.

Ash- I know that I’ll have to get to some major review copy reading in May, but right now I’m simply enjoying April! Most of the books I’m reading right now are ones bought with my Christmas money.
