Happy Mother’s Day! I hope all of you moms are being spoiled today.
I plan to spend my day lounging around, finishing The Passage, and then going out for wonderful Mexican food with the family.
In case you’re looking for some themed reading for the holiday, here are some of my favorite reads that deal with motherhood and women’s issues:

Homestead by Rosina Lippi – This work of historical fiction follows the lives of the women in an Austrian village from 1909 to 1977. Beautiful writing.

That Distant Land: Collected Stories by Wendell Berry – No one writes human relationship and emotions and community like Berry. Not all of these stories deal with women’s/mothers’ issues, but some do, and they are all more than worth reading.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott – Yes, Marmee is an intimidating literary figure for those of us struggling to be good mothers, but this is the ultimate mother-daughter book.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman – If you like your mother-daughter stories a little more on the creepy side, this is the book for you.

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich – Mrs. Plum and Grandma Mazur – for those of you who like your mom-related reading to make you laugh until you pee your pants.

The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeanette Walls – This memoir makes most of us very grateful for the mother we have, no matter how imperfect she is.
Hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Rosina Lippi also writes under the name Sara Donati and she is one of my favourites! Actually, this book that you have mentioned is the only one of her books that I haven’t read.
