Update on Natalie

First of all, thank you so much for all your lovely comments and for keeping us close in your thoughts and prayers. When I do manage to sneak a few minutes on the computer in the Family Resource Room, my spirits are always buoyed by your kind words. I wish I could respond to each of you, but time doesn’t allow. Please know that I appreciate each one of you.

Natalie is scheduled for a C/T scan this morning to check the status of the abcess. If all is well, she may have the drain removed today. They’re supposed to get the cultures back today to tell them what bacteria we’re dealing with and therefore what antibiotic to use now (she’s been on broad-spectrum antis). If the abcess is resolved, then they start her on a new IV drug for her Crohn’s.

Doesn’t look like we’ll be going home until Friday or Saturday, but will keep you updated. Have had visitors the last couple of days, which was nice and seemed to raise her spirits. Her best friend is coming to visit this afternoon, so she’s looking forward to that. Kevin and the boys were here yesterday – Kevin bringing me more books, since I’ve already finished two of the ones I brought. It was nice to see him and the boys – but hard when they had to leave.

I will hopefully be able to update later today with more specifics about how long we expect to be here. Thanks again to all of you.

I’ve had a couple of friends with Crohn’s and is so hard to see people suffer through this kind of pain. You are admirable, you know that? I’m constantly praying for you and your family and Natalie’s quick recovery.

Carrie, I’m so sorry to read that Natalie is back in the hospital again. That just breaks my heart. I agree with Sandy it’s difficult to see the people you love suffer through that kind of pain. My cousin suffers with Crohns and while she had a rough patch she’s doing really well now. I am keeping Natalie in my prayers as well as the rest of your family.

I’m continuing to pray for you, your daughter, and the rest of the family. I hope the results of the CT will be positive and that the drain will be removed. That, I know, is the first step towards her being released from the hospital.

I’m glad to hear that things are still moving in a relatively positive direction. Sounds like Natalie has some great friends and without a doubt a fantastic family to help support her.
