I love short stories. Is there any way you could choose your top 10 from this list (including the ones you didn’t review)?

Joy – some of those I read almost two years ago! Let’s see, which ones still stand out in my mind? The Missing Statues by Simon Van Booy, The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr, The Iron Shroud by William Mudford (which I think you can read online), Servants of the Map by Andrea Barrett, and, of course, all the Sherlock Holmes stories. :)

Congratulations! I know it can be hard to review short stories… seems like I’ve fallen out of the Short Story Monday habit this summer. Will you still be reading them regularly?

JoAnn – yes, I will definitely still be reading short fiction – I’m not done with Best Short Stories 2001, plus I have How to Breathe Underwater by Julie Orringer waiting.

  3. Congratulations on finishing this challenge, Carrie! You did a great job! I always intend to read more short stories but it never quite works out as planned. I suppose I should be grateful that I read as many as I do. I read a lot more these days than I used to read.

There are so many good ones for me to check out! I am always amazed at how difficult it can be to review a short story.

  5. Thank you, Carrie! I’m going to write those down. :)
