While trying to read blogs this morning, I noticed that Blogger is down. Again. For any of you Blogger users who would like to switch to self-hosted WordPress, my husband will give you a really good deal – $3 a month, paid yearly at $36 a year. You can purchase your own domain name from GoDaddy, or have a blog address like mine – (name of blog).colvilleblogger.com – for free.
As far as the design of your blog goes, you can use any of the WordPress templates, many of which are now fully customizable. Or if you want a personal design, Kevin does that, too, and has a special deal for anyone who knows me through my blog: $250 for a custom design, first year of hosting free. (He did my gorgeous design. 
)

I have been so afraid to go to self hosted…. I don’t know what I would do without support…LOL
I am curious though as to the benefits vs the free wordpress that I am on. Better templates? More options? I am not super computer tech savy so I am nervous about taking a step that may be over my understanding.
This is great Carrie. Thank you for the offer (and thank your husband). I’m going to talk to my own husband and discuss this. I’ve been thinking about switching from blogger for awhile and this latest screw up might be the last straw. I’ll email you later about it once I’ve figured it all out.

Like Jennifer, I have been thinking about switching. I am, however, nervous that I would not understand wordpress, loose my stuff from blogger (comments, etc), have to reformat my photos, and links, etc. I want to clean up my blog anyway, so with blogger being down and irritating me, maybe now is the time to switch.
Like Sheila, self-hosted sounds very scary. I worry about spam, and mostly hackers.
I am interested to know more.

I’m not a big time blogger – it’s more for me than anything – but I use wordpress free. I use blogger as my blog reader because when i tried using wordpress subscription reader it was horribly horribly slow and cumbersome! I’m not sure if that is typical or just my problem but I’d had enough so moved my subscriptions over to blogger. Anyone else have this experience?
