Teaser Tuesdays – July 26, 2011

The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld

I breathed garlic deep into my lungs. Mustn’t eat the nice people, Minerva’s voice chided in my head.

The Soldier’s Wife by Margaret Leroy

I tell myself I could go, I could still turn and leave. Everything flashes before me, spooling out in my mind – vivid, precise, incandescent with disaster.

Hi! I wasn’t rushing or anything, but I finished our buddy read… I thought I had a lot left, but there are a lot of notes and things at the end… I keep meaning to email you to tell you, but I forgot and I was on your blog, so at least I am telling you. :)

Kelly – that was quick! LOL I’m on disc five and there are seven all together, so should be done in the next couple of days. :) I’ll shoot you an e-mail when I’m done so we can get the discussion started.

I have to get to The Soldiers Wife. I have heard good things!

Sheila – I’m ambivalent about it. The writing is gorgeous – and I mean, “want to hop a plane to Guernsey now” gorgeous – but am really hating a lot of the decisions the main character is making. She seems very passive – just letting life happen, and when it comes to how she’s parenting her daughters, it really bugs me. Will have to see if anything happens in the last third of the book to change my mind.

Both books have piqued my interest. I’ll be eagerly waiting for your reviews!
