Audiobook Week, Day Three: Mid-Week Meme

For day three of Audiobook Week, Jen has come up with this quick meme.

Current/most recent audiobook: Starters by Lissa Price, narrated by Rebecca Lowman

Impressions: Really good YA dystopian. Fantastic world-building, but I can tell that it’s the first in a series, which is getting old. I enjoyed Lowman’s narration in Jacquelyn Mitchard’s Second Nature, and she’s wonderful with this one, too.

Current/most recent favorite audiobook: A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson

Favorite narrator you’ve discovered recently: Rosalyn Landor, who narrates the Bess Crawford mysteries by Charles Todd, and also narrated Sophie Kinsella’s Twenties Girl and The Undomestic Goddess.

One title from your TBL (to be listened) stack, or your audio wishlist: I’ve been wishing my library would get Jennifer Haigh’s Faith on audio for over a year now, but no luck. Sigh.

Your audio dream team (what book or author would you LOVE to see paired with a certain narrator, can already exist or not): I don’t know if Simon Vance has an Irish accent, but I would love to hear him read one of my favorite books, Trinity by Leon Uris.

A Grown Up Kind of Pretty is at the top of my wish list! Hope to listen to Faith soon, too, since I’ve enjoyed two of her previous novels on audio. Have you asked your library to order it? Mine is usually very accommodating, especially if a couple of patrons request something.

JoAnn – our little rural library district is struggling right now – the levy keeps failing to pass, and we’re in a very poor county. It used to be that the requests I made would almost always be purchased, but now they very rarely do, simply because the funds aren’t there.

  6. A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty is on my new TBL list. I loved Twenties Girl. It was a great read!
