First line: When I think of my wife, I always think of her head.
Okay, so I saw this book mentioned in Entertainment Weekly, and then Sandy started talking about how fantastic it was long before she actually published her review. I ordered it. I had just received my copy when Sandy posted, saying, “Holy mindscrew Batman.” She wasn’t kidding.
I just finished it tonight, reading the last twenty pages or so with my mouth hanging open. I’m not kidding. I was turning pages as fast as I could, thinking very scattered and horrified thoughts that I cannot post here without giving things away. And you really don’t want me to give anything away. You absolutely have to go into this book blind, without spoilers. If you’re reading a review, and it even begins to hint at giving away too much of the plot, click away as fast as you can. You’ll be glad you did.
To give you just a taste of what it is like to read this book, here are some of the thoughts I had while reading:
“Nick is a despicable person.”
“Amy is horrible!”
“What the heck? No way!”
“Oh, I see where this is going.”
“I did NOT expect that.”
“Ew. Just…. ew.”
“Okay, he’s going to (fill in the blank).”
“No…. wait! What? There’s no way…. Oh. My. Gosh.”
