Author news:

~ Hollywood’s most powerful authors

~ Jamie Ford’s new book has a title: Songs of Willow Frost. If only we didn’t have to wait until January 2014! In the meantime, if you haven’t read his first novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, you definitely should.

Reading challenges:

~ Sheila has opened sign-ups for the 2013 Where Are You Reading? Challenge. I’ve enjoyed tracking my reading geographically this year, and plan to do it again.

Book to movie/TV/radio news:

~ Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere – which I adored – is being adapted for a radio production by BBC. The cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch and James McAvoy, as well as a ton of other fantastic performers. I sure hope this gets released on CD!

~ Stephen King’s Under the Dome will become a 13-part mini-series on CBS, co-produced by King and Steven Spielberg. This should be good!

Other bookish links:

~ Xe Sands, audiobook narrator and all-around wonderful person, linked to “From an Atlas of the Difficult World” by Adrienne Rich. Such a powerful poem – don’t miss it!

~ Although I often get tired of seeing adults justify their reading of YA fiction, I very much enjoyed Jacquelyn Mitchard’s list of 7 Reasons Young Adult Books Appeal to Adults.

~ Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Books: Ode to DNFs – I love this! If you’ve ever DNF’ed a book, you need to read this.

~ Lost in Books: 10 Holiday Gifts for the Book Lover – I want one of those massage-in-bed-while-reading chairs!

I apologize to any of you who made it through this post for the abundance of exclamation points. I was going to go back and change them all, but decided to leave them. Apparently, I’m in a very good mood this morning! 🙂

So glad you enjoyed that poem – such a powerful one with lots to chew on and mull over.

And I had no idea that Neverwhere is being adapted for audio/radio drama – so cool! Loved it in video and print 🙂

Xe – makes me want to read it again! And I’ve never seen the video production.

A few enthusiastic exclamation points never hurt anyone!!!!!!! (LOL)

I checked out the holiday gifts and thought the tights were too cute to resist, but couldn’t load the Zahara online store page on my computer, so my impulse purchase was thwarted! (Probably for the best, as I’ve decided that bookish people would really prefer books over bookish gifts!)

Laurie – I think you’re right! Although that massage reading chair is pretty tempting….
