~ Last night, Natalie had her first date. Yes, she’s been “going out with” James for three months, but we have kept all of their interaction to family and group outings. They went out to dinner together to celebrate three months, and then joined Kevin and the boys and I at the golf course driving range to hit a few balls. It was a fun evening – and since neither Natalie or James are allowed to drive non-family passengers yet, they rode to their date on a tandem bike borrowed from some friends. How cute is that!?
~ Kevin has applied for yet another computer job. I’m not getting my hopes up, but a normal work schedule would be nice.
~ Can’t wait for football season to start! My Seahawks had a great season last year, and are undefeated in the preseason. With Russell Wilson at the helm, I really think we have a chance to go all the way this year.
~ Also looking forward to my fall TV series to start back up. Big changes for some of my favorites: Ziva is leaving NCIS after the first two episodes this season, Van Pelt and Rigby are supposed to be gone from The Mentalist by the end of the season, and Christina is leaving Seattle Grace at the end of this season of Grey’s Anatomy.
~ I’ve been reading like crazy, soaking up the last little bit of free time before our school year starts on Tuesday. I started The Lord of the Rings for Noah’s lit class. I am already loving it; the hardest thing is going to be only reading each week’s section, and not going ahead. I don’t know why I waited so long to read it!
~ As of today, Mom is officially retired. Today will be our new pastor’s first Sunday; I’m excited to meet him. We are having our service in the park today, with a potluck afterward, so should be a good chance to get to know him.
~ I am so ready for fall! It’s my favorite season; the only thing that could make it better is if it didn’t lead into winter. I’m hearing rumors from the almanac that we’re in for a hard winter with lots of snow. And I now have a daughter who drives. Sigh.
Are any of you doing anything special this Labor Day weekend? Reading anything fantastic that I should hear about? Looking forward to anything in particular during the autumn season?
