First Book of the Year 2014 – The Complete Stories by Flannery O’Connor

Sheila at Book Journey came up with the idea to highlight what each of us has chosen for our First Book of 2014. My choice was an easy one:

The Complete Stories by Flannery O’Connor

I was really hoping this book would be chosen last year as part of the “I’ve Always Meant to Read That Book!” Challenge, but it wasn’t. I cheated a bit this year, and chose the January read-along book without voting, because I have been meaning to read this one forever, and I keep seeing O’Connor mentioned as being wonderful from other readers I respect. So, today, I will finally be cracking open this book. Look for my review on the last day of the month, when I hope many fellow readers will chime in with their thoughts, as well.

It’s your challenge so you can cheat! πŸ˜‰ I’m hoping to get my hands on O’Connor’s Prayer Journal this month. Happy reading and Happy New Year!

This is technically one of my first books, too, but since I imagine it is going to take me a while I didn’t use it. πŸ™‚

Belle – me, too – I’m very interested in her life and her faith and how it influenced her writing.

  8. I hadn’t heard of that Challenge before. I didn’t do challenges last year but I am considering 1 or 2.

  9. I read A Good Man is Hard to Find when I was in college, and it was like nothing I had ever read before…and I don’t think anything has come close to its equal since. Enjoy!
