Challenge host: Ready Why You Are, C.B.
Challenge time frame: January 1, 2012 through April 1, 2012
Challenge details:
Are you brave enough to take the double dare?
Make a resolution to read only the books in your To Be Read stack from January 1, 2012 to April 1. Can you survive?
The TBR Double Dare is not a book buying ban. You can still buy books during the double dare, you just can’t read them until April 1, 2012. The official stance on library books is that you can only read those in your possession or on your holds list at 12:00 A.M. on Jan. 1, 2012.
Of course, you are free to set your own rules if you like. If you know you have a book club book coming up, or that a certain author has a book coming out, you can allow for exceptions. It’s all for fun.
I am going to allow myself a couple of exceptions to this:
First, I just ordered In Other Worlds: SF and the Human Imagination by Margaret Atwood for a buddy read with Kelly in February, and Memento Mori by Muriel Spark for a Faith and Fiction Round Table discussion on March 31st. They won’t arrive until after January 1st, but I can’t wait until after April 1st to read them.
Also, I get most of my audiobooks from the library, and there’s no way I could give up audiobooks for three months.
Lastly, I will allow myself to say yes to one book tour date per month for January, February, and March, in case the ladies at TLC Book Tours come up with something especially tempting.
Other than that, I will only read books that are already on my shelves as of now – both review copies and personal copies. I’m hoping to get to several titles that I bought in 2010 and 2011 and have yet to read.
So, are you up to the challenge?

I can’t wait to read your thoughts on In Other Worlds. It’s a book that sat on my shelves for months unread before I finally returned it to the library. Good luck on the challenge. I haven’t figured out which exceptions I’m going to have.
